Event

2007 Janurary 18, Thursday, 7:00pm — Whiting Library, Chester, Vermont

Wondering how to operate that telescope you got for Christmas? Or perhaps you've tried to use it, only to discover that you really don't know what to point it at. We're here to help!

The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA), will be focusing on these issues in its upcoming monthly public presentation on January 18th at 7:00 P.M. in the Whiting Library in Chester, VT. This is a free, informal event hosted by SoVerA members, who will share their knowledge of the skies and telescopes. Come with your telescope, or just come with questions and use our scopes. We'll help unleash the fun of owning a telescope. If weather permits, we'll have telescopes set up outside allowing the public to look at some of the universe's most stunning objects.

There will also be a short demonstration with attendee participation, illustrating some of the working aspects of the universe. This is part of SoVerA's association with NASA's Outreach program, Night Sky Network.

On the third Thursday of every month, SoVera hosts a presentation which is free to the public. Until we find a permanent home, our events are held at various venues on or near Route 11 in Southern Vermont.

The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA) is an astronomy education + outreach organization composed of amateur & professional astronomers, educators, students and members of the lay public. We are dedicated to making astronomy much more accessible to all, as well as offering opportunities to conduct more involved astronomy projects. Talks and presentations are held in venues throughout the Southern Vermont region on the third Thursday of every month, with observing afterwards, sky conditions permitting. All are welcome.
