Supernovas 'R' Us
SoVerA President Claudio Véliz will discuss the circumstances
leading up to a supernova detonation, the largest explosions known to
occur in the universe. A brief review of star creation and evolution will
be followed by a description of the internal dynamics of supernovas, how
these objects become so potent and what might happen to all of us if one
goes off nearby.
The talk will be for general audiences and will include striking new
images and video of super computer models of these extraordinary events.
