Event
2008 February 20, Wednesday, 7:00pm —
Unitarian Universalist Parish, Chester, Vermont (presentation by
Claudio Véliz on the Lunar Eclipse)
Lunar Eclipse
At 7PM, on the 20th of February, a short PowerPoint talk will be given in
the Sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Parish (a.k.a. The Stone
Church), Chester, Vermont, by Claudio Véliz, President of the
Southern Vermont Astronomy Group on what a lunar eclipse is and how it
occurs. This will be followed by everyone congregating outside, weather
and sky conditions permitting, of course, to watch the real deal: a total
eclipse of the moon, caused by the earth's shadow obscuring the full moon
disc. The 'juicy' (visibly noticeable) part of the event will begin at
about 8PM, with the total portion of eclipse occurring from about 9 to 11
PM.
All are welcome to attend, no special instruments are required, just your
eyes, your curiosity and your sense of humor. Oh yes, remember to dress
warmly! Feel free to email any questions to us at SoVerA.
