Earth and Sky sky watching information
Visit the following site from Earth and Sky for sky watching information
you can use every day:
http://www.earthsky.org
Recently the site had the following information:
You can find the North Star - Polaris - by drawing a line from the Big
Dipper's two outer stars and projecting it towards north. Polaris is
within a degree of Earth's true north, and it will be even closer - within
1/2 degree - in the early next century. Due to Earth's precession, different
stars have been the "north star" at different times. Kochab and Pherkab,
the two outer stars on the Little Dipper (where Polaris is the end of the
handle), were the "north stars" around 3000 years ago.

Also, there is information about the Lyrid Meteor Shower. Look for the
meteors throughout the sky - 20 to 30 per hour - before dawn on the mornings
of April 22 and 23.
